Ontario Anthropomorphic Antics

Ah... the old stomping grounds. I'm a Lady of Leisure back home in Toronto. It's a nice feeling to be here and not have responsibilities. I've been going for lots of lunches, dinners, parties at bars and houses. Lots of riding the subway... lots of busses.

Above you can see Carole and her little guy Ethan (he's two). Check out the stylish Lego duds.

Also above is Andrew giving Growler a mohawk. Andrew (aka Dakk) and Growler are part of the Toronto "FURRY" community. The deal is that these guys (mostly young, kinda geeky and gay) identify with animals. Each one of them has an animal character that they personify, and they all have drawings of their characters and sort of mythical names like Potoroo (a half kangaroo half gargoyle), Growler (coyote / wolf), and Dark Child (an orange cat). The ones I met are all really nice guys, all work in IT and most of them actually live in a house together called "The Den". Some of them wear tails on special occasions, and all of them have sex with all of the other ones. Fun stuff.

Luckily for me, I've picked up about 6 days of work for my friend Matt at the brand new Young Centre for the Performing Arts. It's a newly built space in the Distillery District of Toronto shared by George Brown Theatre School and Soulpepper Theatre Company. The work I've done (mainly tech calls and PA work) will pay for most of my trip.

Soon it will be time to head back to my real life in Calgary. Part of me doesn't want to go! But I miss the mountains and my friends there.

More pics to come soon...
